Lucian Nagy & Balkumba Tribe

Lucian Nagy & Balkumba Tribe

The Tribe (or Lucian Nagy & Balkumba Tribe) was formed in February 2014 (by Lucian Nagy) at Lucian Nagy's initiative. Their first concert in this formula took place in Berlin after an
invitation from the Romanian Cultural Institute. Lucian Nagy and all of the band members decided that this was the best moment to conceive a unique group. So, around that important concert in Berlin, several other concerts were organized throughout Romania.
The idea of the name “Balkumba Tribe” came from Lucian Nagy after many years of studying the so called “World Music” sphere thus, ideas from the Balkan and Indo-African music were fused together. Also, influences from “Jazz” and “Afro-Latin” are present because each member of the band comes from a place where they studied with maestros of these vast genres.
Balkumba Tribe represents the perfect cultural, musical as well as different ethnicities “fuse”, creating the unique balance in between players. (musicians, performers, tribe members)
Each member of the “Tribe” manifests in a natural way, the region they come from leaving a great musical cultural print.
Mixing up the musical ingredients brought by Johann Berby from the Afro-Indian sphere and ethnic influences - with Jazz from Sebastian Spanache & Lucian Nagy, we can say that the whole conceptual spectrum of the Tribes has a fresh and original feeling. To all these, we add of course Csabi Pusztai and Gabriel Rosati who give that unique “groove” by combining the Afro-Indian rhythms with Middle-East & Jazz. For the Tribe this ethnic cultural fuse represent Music as a whole.
Lucian Nagy, as the leader of the group, is the one that composed the Tribe's Music, and it was meant to be presented among World-Music and Jazz festivals.
