Anything can happen on the weekend jam nights when the most popular Hungarian musicians create random formations and play true bebop to entertain the audience.

The explosively talented young saxophonist, Soso Lakatos Sándor, has been performing publicly since the age of twelve. At fifteen, he was the star soloist of the Next Generation youth ensemble organized under the auspices of Hungarian Radio.

After the successful weekend jam sessions, Budapest Jazz Club now welcomes everyone to the new Thursday jams!

After last year’s sold-out birthday show, the band Konyha returns to the BJC. Known for their hits “Százszor visszajátszott” and “Földrevaló”, the band is doubling up this time: they will play two consecutive concerts with almost entirely different setlists.

Each Wednesday, a different trio of talented young musicians is in charge of good vibes, and they welcome the audience to take part in their game.

The saxophonist Viktor Toth formed the group Bird Food Market in 2012. Their music is the marriage of jazz and hip-hop, a reinterpretation of the Charlie Parker like bebop legacy.

Their repertoire is characterized by Django Reinhardt’s musical legacy, enriched with the salon music of Budapest from the last century, a touch of Paris, and the freedom of jazz. 

In actress Eszter Balla’s and Swing à la Django’s theatrical concert night, we can learn about many of Budapest’s legends, from the story of professional prostitutes employed by the police during the Kádár regime and today’s Mambo Bar, to the mysterious death of actress Gizi Bajor and the secrets of the Körszálló — all accompanied by lots of music, with both well-known and rarely heard songs.

The drummer-composer Balázs Bágyi is one of the prominent figures in the Hungarian jazz scene, regularly performing abroad as well. He has been leading his own bands since his twenties.

Following the first—and immediately sold-out—Alerant Szeparé Sessions evening, we invite audiences open to new experiences to embark once again on a unique musical and gastronomic journey this February.
