Tilia
The Tilia band was founded by Róza Hárs in 2022 with the aim of bringing her songs to life in a full band setting. After a continuous process of exploration, the current lineup was formed in January 2024. About 70 percent of the band’s repertoire consists of original compositions. The songs are primarily rooted in the language of jazz. Lyrics play an important role, often reflecting—sometimes with a touch of irony—the influences that have shaped the songwriter, in both Hungarian and English. Improvisational elements complement the pre-written melodies and rhythms in a harmonious way.
An increasing number of pieces in their repertoire show the influence of world music. At concerts, as many as seven languages may be heard: alongside Hungarian and English songs, elements of Hebrew, Portuguese, Turkish, French, and Spanish musical traditions also appear.
