Djabe with Chieli Minucci – Slices of Life Tour

The collaboration between Djabe and acclaimed American guitarist Chieli Minucci has brought a new creative dimension to the band's musical journey since it began in 2023. Their first joint concert tour resulted in the live album Tour of Waterfalls, which received widespread international acclaim. The recording was highly praised at the High End Munich exhibition and was nominated for the Hungarian Fonogram Award for Jazz Album of the Year. The partnership continued in 2025, when Chieli Minucci joined Djabe's 30th anniversary tour. During this period, the musicians also recorded their studio album Butterflies. The subsequent Tour of Butterflies took the ensemble to audiences in Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic, while the new material once again received enthusiastic professional and public recognition at the High End Vienna exhibition.

In the summer of 2026, Djabe returned for the ninth time to the Rochester International Jazz Festival, one of the United States' premier jazz events. Chieli Minucci joined the band for the festival performances, once again showcasing the exceptional musical chemistry that has become the hallmark of this collaboration. The Slices of Life Tour celebrates the unique connection between Djabe and Chieli Minucci's legendary band, Special EFX. The programme draws on material from Special EFX's 1986 album Slice of Life and Djabe's landmark 2005 album Slices of Life, presenting these compositions in fresh arrangements and new interpretations. The audience can also look forward to Barabás Tamás's title composition, alongside Djabe's distinctive take on the Special EFX classic Uptown East.

The tour also marks the 20th anniversary of Djabe's acclaimed Slices of Life album. To celebrate the occasion, the album is being released on vinyl for the first time, alongside a special anniversary double CD edition. Both releases will be available at the concert venues.
