Fröx Trio

The origin of their powerful and exciting musical style lies in the helicon bass instrument, which is almost entirely absent in Hungary. Their pieces become more playful and lighter than usual through experimentation with rhythmic motifs and the varied ways in which the instruments are played.

At the concert, the orchestra will be joined by saxophonist, composer, and arranger János Avéd, a faculty member at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music and one of the most sensitive and distinctive artists on the Hungarian jazz scene. A prominent figure in mainstream Hungarian jazz, Budapest’s free improvisation community, and a long-standing member of the Modern Art Orchestra (MAO), he is also an accomplished composer of big band works, including The Fruit of the Spirit (2019). Throughout his career, he has performed alongside world-renowned artists such as Benny Golson, Kurt Elling, and Chris Potter.
