A week in the spell of free improvisation at the Budapest Jazz Club!

November 2025 will primarily delight dedicated “jazzers,” as the spotlight turns to one of the most authentic elements of the genre: the freedom of improvisation, and within that, the joy of spontaneous music-making — better known internationally as jam sessions.

The essence of a jam session lies in the pure pleasure of playing together spontaneously, where musicians connect freely, respond to one another, and react to the audience’s energy. The invited base bands — typically trios — welcome anyone who knows the timeless jazz standards and can contribute musically in a way that enriches both the performance and the listening experience.

Between November 3 and 8, the BJC will offer an even stronger lineup than usual. The festival opens on November 3 with a high note: following a double concert by American jazz legend Dave Holland, the popular guitarist István Gyárfás and his band will officially kick off the All In Jam Fest.
On the following nights, there will be two jam sessions per evening, starting at 10:00 PM and 11:00 PM.
