The resident big band of the Budapest Jazz Club is made up of some of Hungary’s finest musicians and is led by trumpeter Dávid Csizmadia. For this concert, eight core members of the BJC Big Band will perform in a special formation.

The music, presented in this unique lineup, pays tribute to the legendary American saxophonist Dave Pell, continuing the introduction of his extensive repertoire in Hungary. Members of his octet included such renowned musicians as Pepper Adams, Benny Carter, Mel Lewis, Red Mitchell, Marty Paich, Art Pepper, and even John Williams. The concert evokes the elegant, chamber-like sound world of the cool jazz era, where each instrument is given a prominent role.
