“Playground” was established by drummer Márton Juhász in 2011, with the aim to create a friendly place where musicians and students can explore the most pulsating music of the world.
The Elemer Balázs Group, one of Hungary’s most popular jazz band was founded in 2000 by Elemér Balázs, the internationally widely recognized and popular jazz drummer.
The formation originates its music from the Eastern European Jewish traditions. Although Nigun’s music can be best labelled as „Klez-jazz”.
Mark Turner is one of the most admired saxophonists of his generation, renowned for his exploratory intellect and intimate expressivity on the full range of the tenor horn. Lathe of Heaven is his sixth album as a leader – but the first under his own name since 2001.
The band was brought to life by one of the most popular figure of domestic bassists, József Horváth, alias Pluto.
Nikoletta Szőke, winner of the Montreux Jazz Voice Competition and recipient of the Máté Péter Award, is one of Hungary’s most popular jazz performers. With her Gipsy Queen Live program, she also appeals to fans of lighter genres, while her original songs blend elements of jazz, Latin, gypsy, Spanish, and R’n’B music.
BJO believes in the importance of making the music available to the jazz-loving audience, to show them how it has changed and evolved in the past decades, and to introduce them to the various performers who are considered as milestones in this style of music.
The music is a medley of different styles, including jazz, drum ‘n’ bass, jungle, hip-hop and rap. An overall category could be nu-jazz, but Loop Doctors can also be seen in clubs, where people actually dance to the music.
The singer-guitarist duo bearing extraordinary popultarity is a special bright spot of the domestic, and proud to say, even the European music scene. In this September they are going to amaze people with a double concert at Budapest Jazz Club. On the first day of this special two-night gig they present their own songs to the audience.
Miklós Lukács is the unsurpassable master of the cimbalom who plays this folk instrument characteristic of our region typical of our region not only with astonishing virtuosity that the audience has the impression the instrument has been invented only to use while playing jazz music.
Róbert Szakcsi Lakatos, pianist won a wide range of prizes in different musical competitions, such as he was the best pianist in Krakow, the winner of the Montreux Jazz Festival in 2000.
The group started working professionally in 1990, and has been recognised from the beginning by audience and critics alike as one of the best young European mainstream jazz trio.
This dream-team unites members of three distinguished Hungarian Gypsy musical dynasties.
Tommy Vig is a jazz vibraharpist, drummer, percussionist, arranger, big band leader, film, television, and classical concert composer, inventor, author, and educator.
