Nagy János Trio feat. Frey György

Nagy János Trio feat. Frey György

The brilliant pianist-keyboard player and bandleader, János Nagy is one of the handful of world-class jazz pianists in Hungary. Among other top acts, he leads the Free Style Chamber Orchestra and plays for European Mantra. In 1997 he was voted ’Best Soloist’ at the Getxo International Jazz Festival. In 1998 he won the coveted eMeRton Prize as „Soloist of the Year”. In 2001 at the Mediawave Festival he accompanied David Murray where he earned high praise from the American tenor-sax idol and critics of Gramofon magazine named the concert Event of the Year. He also played to tremendous acclaim in London, Poland, Macau and Vilnius. In the UK he was backing the Hungarian songstress Bea Tisza in 2003  at the legendary 606 Club and subsequently recorded with her there, to date,  first British album. He returned to the 606 two years ago with a British trio and brought the house down.
The brilliant Gipsy violinist, Frankie Lato served his musical apprenticeship in France with the world-famous Didier Lockwood. He is equally at home in crossover and world music but his heart is with the manouche style swing perfected by the late Django Reinhardt. He has played with the likes of Joe Murányi, Dave Samuels, Sam Rivers and Mike Stern, to name a few.
The young and extremely versatile drummer, Flora Joubert has been playing with János for years now.
This trio’s debut totally brought the house down at the BJC two years ago!
On this special occasion, the bass-guitarist-composer György Frey, winner of the prestigious Artisjus Award enlarges the group into a quartet.

Nagy János – piano, Frankie Látó – violin, Joubert Flóra – drums
Frey György – bass guitar
