ALERANT Jazz Night

Gábor Benda's evening as a pianist and composer is an interdisciplinary production where prose, music, and painting come together to form a stage performance

The band embodies three generations of Hungarian jazz: a Great Generation star, a living legend, and the finest of the young elite.

Krisztián Oláh divided the pieces into four concerts based on their sources of inspiration in the “4x4 Sessions” series. In the “5x5” series, marking the fifth anniversary of the band, five more abstract but highly relevant musical ideas and concepts form the theme of the concerts.

The band's sound is shaped by the triple unity of jazz, classical music, and folk music, based on a rather honest and unique soundscape. They are characterized by the fresh and free-spirited performance of their compositions: they often play in a trio or duo formation.

Eszter Strausz one of the best-known jazz flute player in the Hungarian scene, who cooperates with her musician magically.

The drummer-composer Balázs Bágyi is one of the prominent figures in the Hungarian jazz scene, regularly performing abroad as well. He has been leading his own bands since his twenties.

Gábor Kollmann, a key figure in the promotion of big band music in Hungary, is a prominent personality in the Hungarian jazz scene.

Sárik Péter is one of the most recognized Hungarian jazz musicians. The musicians all all round players, so their show has a large variety of styles appearing.

Urbán Orsi is one of the outstanding jazz singers in Hungary. With her natural radiance and immediately identifiable, deep, powerful voice she creates a fantastic atmosphere.

In the first half of pianist-composer Gábor Benda's evening, his solo piano composition titled "The Story of Jesus" will be performed.

Klára Hajdu is an outstanding singer-songwriter of the Hungarian jazz scene and is currently a teacher of jazz singing at the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music. On this evening, the band will be joined by Milán Szakonyi, one of the most unique singers in our country.

The Fonogram Award-winning Loop Doctors play exclusively their own music, which is a unique blend of electronic music sounds, the freedom of jazz improvisation, and the pulse of funk and drum'n'bass.

The program is rooted in the traditions of hard bop and, alongside original compositions, features works by legendary composers such as Miles Davis, Wayne Shorter, and Joe Henderson.

Bassist Áron Hodek from Komárom, who is only 13 years old, is already a world-renowned musician.

The formation was founded in 1984 by Miklós Faragó. The members of the band can handle latin, mainstream, and swing melodies as well.
