The Harmónia Jazz Workshop presents a special tribute concert in honor of the 90th anniversary of the birth of Gábor Szabó, a world-renowned figure of Hungarian jazz guitar.
Two years ago, a similar formation—made up exclusively of women—already surprised the audience of Harmónia Jazzműhely. Their success was so great that last year and again this year we are celebrating International Women’s Day with another all-female instrumental band.
The band was founded in 2019 by Zoltán Pintér and Gábor Kollmann, inspired by their time spent playing in Aladár Pege’s ensemble.
The always fully committed and versatile singer now experiments with a new sound, placing the focus on heartfelt lyrics and melodies that transcend genres.
The explosively talented young saxophonist, Soso Lakatos Sándor, has been performing publicly since the age of twelve. At fifteen, he was the star soloist of the Next Generation youth ensemble organized under the auspices of Hungarian Radio.
The melodic, Latin jazz-playing Révész Richárd Latin Quartet is a formation of well-known artists from the Hungarian jazz scene. Their repertoire draws on the roots of Afro-Cuban music, and their performances also feature original compositions.
The brilliant young Hungarian tenorman produces a beautiful, muscular, dark tone on his horn, plays jazz that sounds like jazz, he is a soulful hard bop player, so true lovers of the genre will absolutely love him.
Emerging in 2018, young pianist Rezső Jónás Jr. now leads a long-standing sibling trio whose rare musical symbiosis has earned them top international honors, including the Müpa Jazz Showcase jury prize and London’s legendary 606 Club award.
With his own trio, he achieved first place at the Vysledky Jazz Festival in 2016, and in the same year he also received the “Newcomer of the Year” award. At his performances, he frequently played together with Ferenc Snétberger.
Trombonist Krisztián Csapó pays tribute to Melba Liston with a special concert, performing with a band assembled specifically for this evening, honoring the centenary of her birth.
Memorial concert featuring numerous Hungarian jazz stars.
Bolba Éva is an immensely popular performer who creates a happy, carefree atmosphere wherever she appears.
Award-winning UK jazz singer Louise Balkwill visits Hungary as part of the Harmónia Jazz Workshop and London’s 606 Club MusicXChange, showcasing her fiery scat singing and unique style inspired by the Great American Songbook.
The band’s playing is characterized by fresh energy, a willingness to experiment and an openness to improvisation.
