The band embodies three generations of Hungarian jazz: a Great Generation star, a living legend, and the finest of the young elite.

J.J. Johnson, one of the most influential trombone players in jazz history teamed up with another trombone legend, Kai Winding in the 1950s to form an immensely successful quintet unusually fronted by two trombones. This gave the inspiration to this brilliant crew.

The Balkan Jazz Project is the latest formation assembled by Mihaly Borbely for which he has picked the most like-minded musicians.

The energetic Cuban singer ELSA VALLE, who lives in Hungary, is a big favorite of the audience, always performing with a suitable accompaniment.

The explosively talented young saxophonist, Soso Lakatos Sándor, has been performing publicly since the age of twelve. At fifteen, he was the star soloist of the Next Generation youth ensemble organized under the auspices of Hungarian Radio.

For this concert, Cuban singer Yulaysi Miranda Ferrer will join the ensemble, bringing an authentic Latin atmosphere with her wonderful voice and dynamic stage presence.

With his own trio, he achieved first place at the Vysledky Jazz Festival in 2016, and in the same year he also received the “Newcomer of the Year” award. At his performances, he frequently played together with Ferenc Snétberger.

The Jámbor Ármin Quartet is an internationally recognized jazz ensemble. The members of the band have numerous awards and prestigious collaborations to their name.

Romani fire and virtuosity drives this truly all-star line-up. They are fronted by two violinists, both possessing dizzying technique and serious international reputation.

For nearly twenty years, Szakcsi Lakatos Béla, a gem of the Hungarian jazz world who passed away in 2022, performed at the season-opening concerts of the Harmónia Jazz Workshop. From now on, we dedicate each season opener to his memory, with his two sons shaping the vast musical legacy according to their individual tastes.

The name of the formation playfully suggests that these outstanding musicians are performing together in this lineup for the first time. Kornél Fekete-Kovács, Sándor Molnár, Krisztián Csapó, and Áron Tálas are leading figures on their respective instruments.

The formation, established in 2009, performs compositions that have become standards of the hard bop musicians from the 1960s-1970s. 

With four beautiful female voices, this event presents the world of the four seasons.
